It’s important to look nice at a wedding. Although we know they are oh so comfortable,  showing up in sweatpants is not acceptable. And if you’re a bridesmaid, not having a sleek, sophisticated hairstyle as a bridesmaid is also unacceptable. Here are a few ideas that can be used when standing up at the altar alongside the bride:

Waves or Curls

Waves work with any hair style and length. If you are a bride looking for a unified bridal party, you cannot go wrong with a simple and elegant wavy look. Hair accessories can also be incorporated. For example, a flower piece, pins or clips can be included. Your accessories will also help complete this look. If you are looking for something a little more bouncy, curls will be your best choice!

Loose Updo

If you are looking to keep your hair away from your face, it would be a good idea to have your hair pulled back. A great way to show off your hair is by having it up loosely. With this look, your scalp won’t feel sore after being pinned up for so long. It looks beautiful and relaxed, and complements any dress.

Braided Updo

Braids work in many different ways when it comes to hairstyles, but a unique style is having a braided updo. Basically, two braids circle the head and meet in the back with a styled bun. This hairstyle can also be done with a side bun, a low bun or a high bun. It’s a simple, elegant look for any type of venue and keeps your hair in place for the wedding.

Braided Half-Down

Not only do braids add to an updo, they add to style when the hair is down as well. A half-down braided look keeps the hair out of your face, which is important on a day when so many photos are being taken, while also being able to show off some nice waves or curls in your hair.

Adding Color

A way to change up the classic bridesmaid look is to add some color in with their hairstyle. This can be done in many ways. You can use a flower crown, a headband, or a mixture of the two. This will set the bridal party out and give your wedding the colorful, vibrant vibe you are looking for.

Curly Ponytail

The curly ponytail creates a playful look that looks elegant. This takes the ponytail to the next level. By curling the ends of the hair, this hairstyle gives the appropriate look for a bridesmaid and looks great for the wedding pictures.

Chignon

A chignon hairstyle is highly popular in weddings. This loose bun sits lower on the head and would stay in the entire day. There is no right way to do this look, and it can be styled many different ways. By twisting or curling or braiding the hair, this will ensure that no two chignon hairstyles will look the same.

Old Hollywood Waves

Shorter hair has a lot of different ways that it can be styled. The Old Hollywood style looks great with pixie cuts and frames the face really well. It’s an elegant look to showcase when standing next to the bride, especially if the theme of the wedding has a classic feel.

Double Braid Crown

This works for those with long hair and short hair. Those who have longer hair can frame their face and have curls. Those with shorter hair can have the two braids wrap around their head showing them off. Braids are suitable for all hair no matter what the length is.

Play with your Part

Hairstyles can change just by where the part is in the hair. If unsure of what hairstyle to do, play around with your part. Between a middle, side or deep side part when paired with curls, waves or straightened, that is a great way to style hair as a bridesmaid.

Accessorize

Similar to adding a bit of color, hair accessories can help tremendously when looking for inspiration. They can be used in many different ways. Flower crowns, leaf headbands and dainty crowns are all great examples. There are many more accessories that can be used as well. Like headbands or screw in hair accessories. These add class to any hairstyle…even looks that are more laid back.

Classic

Finally, if you are looking for a classic, elegant look, there is one style you cannot go wrong with. A middle part that is straightened with some volume toward the back of the head is sleek and has a classic look. Kim Kardashian made this hairstyle popular at weddings when she chose this style for her ceremony with Kanye West.

There are so many different ways to have a bridesmaid’s hair on the wedding day. Most importantly they should be comfortable and confident while standing next to the bride!
