Dehydration affects our body in many ways. If you aren’t drinking enough water throughout the day, you likely won’t feel that great. You may also notice dry skin and dry, dull hair. Dehydration affects your hair because water lubricates your hair follicles and stimulates growth. When your hair follicles are not receiving enough hydration, they may become dry, dull, and even break off. This could also cause hair loss.
If you are noticing that you aren’t drinking enough water on a daily basis, check your hair. You may notice that it has stopped growing. You could see split ends, damage, dryness, and dullness. You could also notice hair loss and problems with your scalp. A dry scalp can often lead to itching and dandruff.
Be sure to start drinking more water. If you don’t really enjoy drinking water, try a flavored water. You can make your own by adding fruit or cucumbers for a fresh taste. You can also stay hydrated by eating more foods with high water content including cucumbers and watermelon. A good rule is to drink one glass of water for every pop, alcoholic beverage, tea, coffee, or other drink you consume.
Do you find yourself dehydrated a lot? Have you noticed the negative impact on your hair’s health? It is not just in your head! Your hair and scalp needs lots of water!
