You may also just want to give yourself a little trim at home in between salon appointments. However, curly hair can be more difficult to cut than straight hair. Cutting Curly Hair At Home
To cut your curly hair at home, you will need good quality scissors that are sharp. You may need to purchase hair scissors if you don’t already own some. Don’t try this at home with regular kitchen shears. You will not get optimal results. Lastly, you’re going to need good lighting and a small handheld mirror to be able to see the back of your head efficiently.
Curly-haired gals should trim their hair when it is fully dry. You should also try to trim it after the second or third day of washing. If your hair is long, part it and bring it forward as if you are making pigtails on both sides. Remember that less is more. Start by cutting less than you want to trim because you can always trim more, but you can’t get your hair back right away if you cut too much.
Hold a piece of hair up and put it between your index and middle fingers at the point where you want to trim. Carefully cut and then bring the next strand over and cut that piece. Go very slowly around your entire head of hair. When you think you’re finished, shake your roots a bit to see where the hair naturally falls. See if you missed any spots.
