How to Detangle Your Hair NaturallyOf course, your hair is always easier to detangle when it is wet. If your hair is really badly tangled, you may want to jump in the shower, get it wet, add conditioner, and comb through it while it is wet. We don’t always have the time for that though, do we? Or you may just want to know how to detangle your dry hair.

If your hair is dry and you need to detangle it, there is a way to do it. Depending on how bad the tangles are and how thick your hair is, it may take as long as 30 minutes or more. But, if you only have a few tangles, it shouldn’t take too long! First, you will need to gather a wide-tooth comb (this one is perfect for detangling!), a spray bottle filled with water or a detangling spray, hair clips, and a rat-tail comb (optional).

Add some moisture to your hair by spraying water or a detangling spray. Then you will need to section the hair to make it easier to detangle small sections. A rat-tail comb makes it easy to divide your hair, but you can use your fingers for this if you don’t have a rat-tail comb.

Clip other sections of your hair out of your way while you concentrate on small sections. Try to work out the tangle with your fingers. This is often gentler because you can pull the tangles apart without yanking your hair out. When you think you’ve done all you can do, grab your wide-tooth comb.

Hold the comb in one hand and use your other hand to hold your hair at the bottom. Work the comb through your hair at the bottom first and go up towards the roots. Spray your hair again if you need more moisture. When the tangle is gone, you can go to another section.

To avoid your hair becoming this tangled again, make sure to use conditioner every time you wash your hair. Use a leave-in conditioner after your shower as well if your hair tends to be very dry and get tangled up easily. Avoid wearing hairstyles that get your hair tangled up in knots because you know how unpleasant it can be to detangle.
