Have you ever gotten dandruff? Whether you deal with it daily or it only sprouts up once in a while, you know how frustrating and just downright gross it can be. So what exactly is dandruff? That is why it causes dandruff and other symptoms like dryness, flaking skin and itching.

Unfortunately, if you have dandruff, it can’t be fully cured, but it can be controlled.

For some people, they need dandruff shampoo every day or every time they wash. But for others, it can be controlled by using dandruff shampoo only during flare-ups or a few times a week to a month. Look for a dandruff shampoo containing zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide. No matter what, make sure to rinse thoroughly because any leftover residue from shampoo, conditioner or other hair products can cause dandruff too.

When you rinse it out, always use lukewarm or cool water. Hot water can irritate your skin and make your condition worse. Dry skin is more likely to flake off and become itchy and irritated.
